If you want to visit Poland and are 100% convinced to embark on a journey to Poland, first ask yourself some fundamental questions. First, choose a date for your stay in Poland when the weather will be most favorable for the form of sightseeing you prefer. We encourage you to read a short article about the weather in Poland in every season here.
If you have any flexibility, do not choose the holiday months of July and August! Everyone travels around Poland then and the big cities are really crowded. In addition, it can be really hot in Poland during these months and sightseeing in open spaces can be exhausting. A much better idea to travel around Poland in the warm months is late May, June, September and early October. That's when the weather is perfect, all attractions are available, restaurants are still open, and hotel prices can be much lower (especially in May and October). May and October are particularly beautiful months. In May, everything goes green, fields and parks are plenty of flowers and the weather is perfect for sightseeing. The beginning of October is the so-called “golden Polish autumn,” when the leaves on the trees shimmer with all colors. And if you plan to see the Polish winter, choose late January or February. That's when it's coldest in Poland and the mountains are beautiful! You can go downhill and cross-country skiing, hike on snowy mountains, take a sleigh ride and much more. In this article you will find some of the most interesting winter attractions in Poland in Tatra Mountains and in Sudety Mountains!
One more very important issue! Our guests often ask us how much time is best to spend on a tour of Poland? As much as possible! To get a good idea of a country's culture, people's cuisine and places, it is best to spend 2 weeks or more on an unhurried tour.
Once you've chosen your arrival date and length of stay, consider what you're really interested in. There are many places in Poland that are worth visiting and that are recommended to tourists. The question, however, is whether you are really interested in World War II history, for example? Do you really want to spend 3 hours in the Wieliczka Salt Mine? Do you enjoy guided city tours and learning about the history and architecture? If so, choose a trip around Poland in a nutshell! If, on the other hand, such things bore you, but you love nature, don't choose standard tours.
Often when we travel, we think that we should absolutely visit the, so called, must-see places. However, always ask yourself what you are really interested in. You will find a lot of beautiful places in Poland, where you can enjoy nature and spend time among local people. There are, for example Tatra Mountains, where you can hike for weeks, beautiful Dunajec River perfect for rafting, medieval castles, and many more hidden treasures waiting for you. There is something for everyone in Poland. Lovers of history, architecture, cuisine, adventure or active sightseeing will find something for themselves!
To summarize, we don't discourage you from doing anything, but we encourage you to take a truthful look at what you like to do and, based on that, choose the perfect plan for your trip in Poland. Here you can fill out a form that will help us prepare an itinerary.
Another extremely important question is how you like to travel in general, not just around Poland. If you like traveling alone, but want to have your trip completely organized by a travel agency, choose the remote contact option. Then you will have all the hotels, transfers, attractions and guides booked, but you will have the freedom to explore Poland alone or together with your friends/family. We always respect the privacy of each guest and prepare an itinerary according to their needs. However, if you like the company of other people and want someone to be by your side all the time, our travel assistant can accompany you throughout your sightseeing and transportation. You can also visit Poland in a group with other people and meet other travelers that way.
Consider, then, which way of traveling and sightseeing suits you best. It can also be a mix. Sometimes you can travel by train to see local life, and sometimes by a taxi. Sometimes you can join a group of other tourists, and another day you can explore a particular city alone, or spend a few days in the mountains, living in a guest house. We can adapt everything to your needs, step by step, and schedule each day of the trip.
It's time to choose your accommodation! One option is a hotel in the city center. Living near the old city, will undoubtedly allow you to go out to restaurants or walks very quickly and easily. There is always a lot going on in the city center and you will never be bored. Just go out to the market square of Krakow, Warsaw or Gdansk in the evening and you will always find actractions or other people to look at. Another option, just the opposite, is to stay in a guest house or rent a house in nature. There is a great number of places in every region of Poland where you can rent a room or a whole house in the forest, in the mountains or by a lake. In such places, you can often have a delicious breakfast made from local products, take part in workshops, rent a canoe or bicycle and in the evening sit around a campfire with other tourists and hosts. This is a great opportunity to talk and integrate with the locals. What's more, after a day of sightseeing in Krakow or another crowded city, relax in nature can really be a game-changer. We encourage you to try this kind of slow-style accommodation, as it gives your trip a completely different dimension.
