To start with, you should visit the Maritime Science Center, which will delight both children and adults. On 3 floors, you will discover a multitude of experiments and experiences. This is where you can find out what life is like on a ship, learn how to row properly, send a signal in Morse code, and much, much more. The building itself is very impressive – it resembles a ship and is illuminated in different colors after it gets dark. There is an observation deck on the roof, from which you can admire the city skyline, including the famous “dźwigosaurus” (crane dinosaurs) and Wały Chrobrego, the most iconic place in the city.
After an exciting adventure at the Maritime Museum, it is time for lunch at the restaurant “Ministerstwo Magii” (Ministry of Magic), which takes guests into the world of Harry Potter. On the menu, you will find pancakes in the shape of Hogwarts letters, steaming cauldrons and other magical dishes. The interior of the restaurant is decorated with elements referring to the world of Harry Potter - flying letters float on the ceiling, a painting of the Fat Lady hangs at the entrance, and wands lie on the shelves as if in Ollivander's shop. It is the perfect place for both younger and older Potterheads!
If you are planning a weekend in Szczecin in winter and you are not yet tired of winter sports, be sure to visit the unusual ice rink at the Water Factory! In addition to the traditional flat surface, there are also uphill and downhill slopes, which gives skating a whole new dimension! The biggest music hits are played in the background and the atmosphere is extremely cheerful. You can rent the equipment on site.
At the end of the day, it is worth visiting the Epicka restaurant, the best Italian restaurant in Szczecin. The service is fantastic and the food is simply delicious. For pistachio fans, a must-try dish is the pasta with pistachios and burrata, or the pistachio cannoli, which tastes like it was brought straight from Sicily! The place is very popular, so it's worth making a reservation to avoid a long queue – but trust me... it's worth it!
After dinner, a walk along Wały Chrobrego, Szczecin's landmark promenade, is a perfect way to end the day. Of course, it is worth visiting both during the day and after dusk, but in the evening it looks particularly magical – the illuminated city is reflected in the water, creating a picturesque view. It is one of those places that you simply must see with your own eyes. It is also a great place to admire the illuminated building of the Maritime Science Center and Szczecin's “dźwigozaury” (crane dinosaurs).
It is worth starting the second day with a visit to “Nad Piekarnią”, a café famous for its excellent bread baked on the spot. Fresh croissants, crispy baguettes, delicious coffee and a wide selection of sweet and savory pastries – it's the perfect place for a lazy breakfast in a cozy atmosphere. The portions are huge, all the ingredients are fresh, and the service is very friendly. The perfect place to recharge your batteries and get positive energy for exploring Szczecin!
Then it is worth visiting the Museum of Technology and Transport, which will delight not only car enthusiasts. The exhibits include vintage cars, motorcycles and trams. An additional attraction is the tram driving simulator, which allows you to feel like a real tram driver! An interactive exhibition has been prepared mostly for children, where they can, for example, fuel up a car, put on chains or inflate a tire, as well as check how various vehicle mechanisms work.
Being in Szczecin and not trying seafood is like being in Italy and not trying pizza! For lunch, it is worth going to the Zakotwiczony restaurant, which serves fresh fish and seafood. You can taste different varieties of oysters, delicious fish soup, as well as meat and vegetarian dishes. The restaurant is very popular and the space is limited, so it is recommended to book a table in advance.
If the weather is good, a walk in Kasprowicza Park, the largest green area in Szczecin, is a great way to end the weekend in this beautiful city. Take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy the natural beauty of the park, stroll among the trees and visit Lake Rusałka, which is charming in every season. Szczecin is a city that will surprise you! From modern attractions to magical restaurants and beautiful walking areas: there is something for everyone!
